Robots in Disguise

Jackie Li

WRC - Sophomore - Undecided -  Hong Kong, China - Advisor

Behind the sweet smile and freckled face of sophomore Jackie Li is that of a mulan warrior. If her hometown of Hong Kong does not capture that Asian persuasion, her mastery of krung thai is sure to convince you she’s a fighter. Then, add on that agility and power she carries on the torque “twerk” team plus those diligent early morning workouts, and you know she knows how to get down to business. Be warned; her physical prowess does not slow at these activities alone, for eating is a marathon in and of itself. If you’re ever in need of a snacking or eating buddy, Jackie is your girl. Someone to do a juice diet with? She’s up for it. Need a hand finishing up those sweets? She’s already there nibbling away. Every warrior needs her time of rest, and Jackie Li is no exception. She’s an expert napper and watcher of TV shows, and she always welcomes a cuddle buddy to join her. She loves to meet new people, so don’t be deceived by her towering height; every conversation with her is unexpectedly enlightening- a hodgepodge of different topics, yet always a delicious and enjoyable end result. Learn how she used to bartend or her love for poop- whatever it may be, she’ll keep you entertained. Get pumped to spend an entire week with this girl as your advisor- everybody else is missing out.

Lucia Pasara

Brown - Sophomore - CHBE or CEVE -  Birmingham, AL - Co-Advisor

If you are reading this because Lucia Pasara is your O-Week Advisor, you are the luckiest new student on campus. So, CONGRATULATIONS! This mesmerizingly beautiful, outrageously intelligent, and genuinely kind-hearted Chemical Engineering major hails from Birmingham, Alabama, and accordingly, she will give you just about any football statistic imaginable. Don’t even get her started on draft day! Her smile lights up the room, even on your absolute worst days, and her volleyball skills set the court on fire. You can find Lucia at Coffee House enjoying a Frappy, in the quad breezing through her DiffEq homework, or anywhere around Rice making someone’s day just by being herself. Lucia is the friend that has your back no matter what, and will fight relentlessly for what she believes in. Get ready for an AMAZING O-Week with an even more amazing advisor.

Marshall Wilson

WRC - Junior - COMP -  Austin, TX - Advisor

Imagine a man with the athleticism of a gazelle, the dashing good lucks of Brad Pitt, the genius of Albert Einstein, and the humor of your favorite comedian. This man could only aspire to be a tenth as cool as Marshall Wilson. Hailing from Austin, Texas, this junior Computer Science major balls outrageous at life. Marshall (Marshy Marsh) spends his time captaining the Will Rice men’s soccer team, ruining people on the foosball table, bumping Dr. Dre in his swagger wagon, and being a Pokemon master. One half of Will Rice’s dynamic and progressive secretary duo, Marshall’s voice will accompany all your lunchtimes in the commons. He can also chug 24oz of water in 3.2 seconds as part of Will Rice’s chug team. Despite all this, Marshall always has time for his friends. Whether it be for an all night heart to heart, or a minimalist dancing session, Marshall will drop whatever he’s doing to help out those around him. Marshall’s peculiar mannerisms are so infectious, you will probably adopt them as your own. Marshall can’t be beat as a friend or advisor, mostly because he likes winning too much. If you were lucky enough to land yourself in Marshall’s O-Week group, you’re in for one wild ride and are likely to come out of it with a life long friend.

Shayak Sengupta

WRC - Senior - CEVE -  Sugarland, TX - PAA

What do you get when you cross a future environmental engineer with an NPR-listening guy from Sugar Land, Texas? Some say a grumpy old man, and some say Shayak Sengupta. Shayak is external vice chair of Rice’s Honor Council, a Will Rice Beer Bike Coordinator, and he moonlights as a singer with Basmati Beats, Rice’s South Asian a cappella group. When not spending time in the burbs, you can find Shayak hanging out around Will Rice singing along loudly to R Kelly or the Backstreet Boys (he’s a sucker for late 90s music). This fun-sized Indian makes the Most Interesting Man in the World seem boring. His exploits are so notorious that fellow Will Ricers dedicated a song to him, “The Shayak Attack.” “Gurl, I’m just afraid you lack the thing that people call, the Shayak Attack!”
