INCOGNITO-WEEK:
Let the Mystery Begin!
Sherlock Holmies

Monica Charletta
WRC - Sophomore - ENST + GERM - Chicago, IL - Advisor
“Where can I find Monica Charletta,” you ask? Well, when she’s not curing the world of Alzheimer’s in lab, serenading crowds with acoustic renditions of T-Pain’s Buy U A Drink in the commons, becoming a fluent German speaker in Leipzig, making crowds cry with laughter at her Kinda Sketchy comedy shows, crazy dancing at public parties, or chugging down 12 oz of water in 0.001 seconds at Beer Bike, you’ll most likely find this pre-med, German Studies and who-knows-what double major reading conspiracy theories on Reddit in her room. Lovingly called “Demonica” by her friends (or “Satanica;” we’re not picky, really), this girl is the best of the best. Not only is she involved in every aspect of Rice, but she also served as Will Rice’s New Student Rep last year, and is one of our Legacy Directors this year. Words that are often used to describe her include friendly, caring, funny, loyal, funny, and slightly weird. With a personality as big as her hair, Monica’s ability to work hard and play harder makes her a role model to everyone around her – consider yourself WAY lucky if you have this Holmie as your advisor.

Gerard Portela
Jones - Junior - PSYC - Bedford, NH - Co-Advisor
Albert Einstein once said, “The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious.” Einstein was speaking, of course, about Gerard Portela, a man as beautiful and mysterious as they come. This New Hampshire native hailing from Jones College has an uncanny ability to woo the ladies with nothing more than a smoldering glance. But beneath the backwards baseball cap and a really nice tan lies a kind and caring pre-med Psychology major who has mastered the balance between work and play. If you ever need a study buddy or a party pal, look no further than Gerard. Gerard loves a good laugh, late night food, Mila Kunis, and serving Jones as this year’s Vice President. With a body shaped by swimming and a brain shaped by science, this stoic man can meet any mental or physical challenge. Consider yourself lucky to have this international man of mystery as an advisor. Austin Powers who?

Nick Link
WRC - Senior - CAAM - Newton, MA - Advisor
Nick Link is extremely unremarkable, and average. We were presented with the opportunity to summarize his existence, we were challenged by the task, so we created this…
Slick Nick does the trick if you ask him nicely he’ll take out his phone and put in your name and number and he’ll remember exactly who you are because he is very kind and considerate. He raps all day, even at lunch, but be careful because he’s a socialite known to spike volleyballs because he plays volleyball and he’s pretty tall. His music tastes are eclectic from Biggy to Creed. He was happy on life in India last semester, and he meditates because he is in tune with the cosmic forces of the universe. A vegetarian with an affinity for corn, and if you catch him at the right hour he might be watching Pterodactyl Discovery Channel specials because he is eager to learn, like a viszla. Here’s the 411 on Nick Link if you want the scoop, he’s a charming guy who makes jokes about poop. Known ‘round campus as “Lord of the Dance,” when he really gets groovin’ he takes time from his busy schedule to volunteer in the community with Best Buddies and PAIR. A CAAM major, smart to the ninth power, if you smell him you’ll know he doesn’t have time for all those study break, because he’s studious and busy.
By now I am sure that you are thinking “I love Nick Link!” but let it be known that you will never love him as much as he loves you.
